“… When we watch this movie, we’ll see DiCaprio, not Gatsby. When it was rumo(u)red that Jack Dawson would be playing Frank Sinatra, it was a near-cringeworthy announcement. Leo is NOT Frank Sinatra, and it’s time we stop shoving superstars into familiar roles. They also said Johnny Depp might play Ol’ Blue Eyes, even though he doesn’t have Blue Eyes. He just has Old ones.”

“I agree, Leo’s far too familiar. Gatsby has to be portrayed as a mystery, with teasing glimpses of perfection before he’s fully revealed. It should be an unknown, who gives the audience the same feeling of addicted curiosity about him that the characters relate. Even if the film’s perfect in every other way, we’ve still lost that.”
