If you haven’t seen The Newsroom yet, you can watch the whole damn first episode on YouTube. Because, you know, HBO is suddenly cool with the Internet now.

It’s been dumped on rather harshly to this point. Scathing reviews differed only in their wording, but not their message. Whether it was “not enough news in Newsroom,” or “a liberal mess,” or “too much talking,” a lot of folks just seemed to be tired of Aaron Sorkin’s act.

Fresh in The Social Network and thrilling in Moneyball, it all sounded stale and typecast in every review of The Newsroom, so far.

And then, there was Dan Rather, writing his review for Gawker, of all places, and defending his once sacred space of religiosity.

“Maybe it’s because they are print people. Then, too, maybe they’re right and I’m wrong. I never rule out the possibility of that. 

“But I’ve lived in the world of television newsrooms for most of my adult life. I know the people, the venues and the challenges — the satisfactions of success and the heartbreak when things go awry. 

“From where I sit and based on my experience, Sorkin and crew have got it amazingly right, even when they over talk it.”

Preach, brother.
