NBC’s Kind of Screwing Over Ann Curry

We’ve all been there. You sleep with a girl who you know is in love with you, and then you realize tomorrow is February 14. You take a job you don’t want because you need the money and you just can’t wait any longer (I mean, not everyone goes from mud to millionaire like the guy from Pursuit of Happyness) and then the next day you get offered your dream job.
Of course, that is what kind of happened to Ann Curry, who finally ascended into the co-anchor’s chair beside Matt “I’m Never Leaving, Dude” Lauer. She finally got her dream job.
Word is, she hasn’t been very good. Or, at least, she hasn’t been good with Lauer.
We don’t know, because we don’t watch fluff TV. Maybe when we’re all 40 and we’re heading to Bed, Bath, and Beyond on Saturdays, but not right now.
People get booted from jobs all the time, and it always hurts them. But, in the case of Curry’s, the entire force of the Internet’s critical machine has been launched at her like orks flying over the walls in Lord of the Rings. Because Curry has Twitter, she can see what people are saying behind her back. Nothing is behind the back anymore. And, even if you don’t know her or if she’s worth knowing, nobody should wish for her what’s actually been happening to her.
