Why I’ve turned into a grammar Nazi

I never considered myself a stickler for grammar when I got into the business, but I’m getting closer to being a Grammar Nazi now. However, the following is probably more of a statement on our education system than anything else. The following is a letter to the editor I received, as I received it:

she may live here but she has no bu ss the devastation here is down plade shes in the 1st row we are not she still has a driveway we do not.

her trailer has no no damages ours does if your gonnona write in a paper write the whole story with pictures your a professional edit, we are not im not blowin my ego up like you.

my friends really live here i and my kids live here i walk to the car through muck and rock and crater tryin not to break the vehichle get some real pictures of your home compared to ours my trailers are about to fall

that would be a true no bs story get facts with pictures that would be a no byiss story 2 second of bs does not me your a writer or an editer tell all the trueth from the entire storyn before you move on to your other life with family stories.

I just had to shake my head at my esteemed competition’s editorial yesterday. In case you missed it, they were droning on about the Haldi Road rezoning issue whereby a judge overturned a city rezoning. It has been a hot and contentious issue and, understandably, both sides unleashed their wrath on the messengers … we got our fair share of it along with the Citizen.

The Citizen’s editorial on the matter didn’t address the judge’s ruling, but rather went on, at length, about how they have tried to get comments from all sides but have had the door slammed in their faces, from those on all sides. Granted, in newspaper circles that usually means you’re doing a good job. Fair enough, but don’t whine about it, which is what they did.
